Last year nearly 25 thousand people came out to check out one of the liveliest events in the region and now Main Street Marketplace is back and bigger and better than ever! Recognized by the State of CT as one of the top 10 economic initiatives in the state for 2010, selected as an outstanding example of a creative economic initiative in all of New England by the New Engalnd Foundation for the Arts and recently winning an Award of Excellence in the "Ongoing Event" category" by the CT Main Street Center, Main Street Marketplace is the premier regional marketplace and we want you to join us!

Each night features close to 70 vendors, a farmers market, street musicians, outdoor sidewalk dining, visual art installations, nightly Jazz concerts, contortionists, fire-eaters, jugglers, unicyclists and more! There is no other place in the region bringing this kind of excitement.

What is Main Street Marketplace?

What began as a concept by the city's Arts & Culture Commission to have the public re-connect with their Main Street has turned into a bonafide hit by all accounts with thousands of people from allover CT turning out to experience the Marketplace. As one NYC Jazz musician who recently visited the Marketplace put it, "The Marketplace has a feeling of a street party in NYC or San Francisco. A great event!" A European-style open air market featuring farm fresh produce, artisan booths, live music, outdoor dining, street performers, and an en plein air invitational for area artists to paint on the street and display their wares.
