Startup Weekend Coming to Hartford 9/23-25

The inaugural Startup Weekend Hartford, an intense 54-hour event that focuses on building a start-up company, will be held Sept. 23, 24 and 25 at the Hartford Public Library at 500 Main Street in Hartford. Startup Weekend Hartford is being organized by the MetroHartford Alliance's Hartford Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs and is being presented by premiere sponsor Connecticut Light & Power Company (CL&P) and Yankee Gas.

Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable.  On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.

Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.

Entrepreneurs, inventors, software developers, graphic designers, and business owners are encouraged to attend. The registration fee is $75 through August 23 and $99 afterwards. Students are $49. Attendance is limited.
