Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN) will present workshops on healthy eating and integrative medicine along with demonstrations of the daVinci Surgical Robotics System at the fourth annual Greater Hartford Women’s Conference (GHWC) on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Maneeley's Banquet and Conference Center in South Windsor. ECHN, a leader in women’s health services, is the conference’s Signature Sponsor for the second straight year.
The minimally invasive daVinci robotics system, which is used at ECHN for various surgical procedures including gynecological procedures, allows surgeons to perform complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions. As a result, patients experience less pain, reduced blood loss and minimal scarring. The conference’s attendees will get to see how the daVinici robot works and even to test drive one.
Heather Carlson, RD of ECHN, will present the workshop “Eat This Not That: Alternatives for Healthy Eating.” This session will focus on ways to prepare healthy meals and snacks quickly, while shopping on a budget and saving money.
Donna M. Cameron, RN, RMT, BS, will give a workshop on integrative medicine and explain some of its techniques including massage, reiki, acupuncture, and herbal and dietary supplements. Integrative medicine involves a partnership between patient and practitioner that uses conventional and alternative methods to stimulate the body’s natural healing potential.
The GHWC, a program of the South Windsor Chamber, is expected to draw over 300 women for a day of professional development, education, and networking. Yvonne Nava, NBC Connecticut’s morning co-anchor, will open the conference and moderate a Q&A with Olympic swimmer Amanda Beard, the morning keynote speaker. Author and business communications expert Jane Hight McMurry is the luncheon speaker. The day will include exhibitors and workshops that focus on business, health, and personal development. To register or for more information, go to www.greaterhartfordwomensconference.com or call the South Windsor Chamber at 860-644-9442. Registration is $149 for the entire day.
