Oh Please Don't Let That Be Him!

Do you know that moment when you are waiting for your match.com date to approach? You are looking at every guy and having 1 of 2 thoughts...
a. Please let this be him!
or
b. Oh no don't let this be him!

Let's face it chemistry is important and we can tell it pretty quickly.  I personally had 13 match.com dates. Ten of them were those moments where you are not sure how you will survive the next hour. But the other 3 were just fine. In fact the third one is my husband today so it worked out for me! I wasn't looking for movie star good looks or a super cut body. I just wanted a down to earth guy with a smile and a bit of confidence. Erik just happened to be super cute as well.

But it can be painful when you are forced to spend an hour and an entire dinner with someone that you have no attraction to. This is why speed dating is becoming a hot new way to find love. It all starts with an entertaining icebreaker. You will be asked to pick a picture of half a couple. There will be multiple pictures to choose from and you can look at all of them. I always go for Wilma Flintstone. But others may prefer Edith Bunker or Yoko Ono. And as for the guys, of course we have Fred Flintstone and Obama and many other choices. The idea is that you walk around the room and need to find your match. Once everyone in the room has found the other half to their couple the game begins. Everyone takes a seat and the rules are explained to the group (basic things like how to fill out the match cards and how to rotate). Then you're off! You chat for 5 minutes with your first date and the bell rings and you rotate. This goes on for 10 to 15 guys depending on the size of the event. You will carry your match card with you and simply check yes or no next to each name on the list. At the end of the night you turn your card in to one of our match makers. And later that same evening the matches are sent. If you have any mutual matches you will both get an email sharing the contact information you registered with. And the rest is up to you.

So if you are approached by a gentleman that you have no chemistry with it only lasts 5 short minutes. No drawn out blind dates, no worries about an awkward kiss goodbye or how to tell the guy you are not interested. You just don't check off yes next to their name and rotate to the next eligible guy.

I am Jaimy Blazynski and I am the dating expert here in the Hartford, CT area. I remember someone asking me what qualifies me to be a dating expert to which I replied “lots of experience”.

Like many of you I was married, divorced, and a single mother for many years. And after 13 match.com dates I met my second husband. I learned a great deal through the entire experience. The most valuable lesson I learned was that attitude is everything. Ok, maybe not everything but a bad attitude can make the most attractive people look ugly!

I began this business in 2005 for 2 reasons. The first is that I want to help others learn from the mistakes I made and the challenges I have had. Everyone can find true love as long as they believe it is available to them. Change your attitude and it can change your life! Especially your love life! The second reason is because I get a rush of excitement every time I make a successful match! And we have had many. So whether you are newly married with your first baby like Melissa and Kevin, in your 40′s Like Dee and Doug, your 50′s like Darcy and Monty or my over 60 couple Rita and Harley you all have one thing in common. You are the success stories of Got 5 Minutes? that make me smile every time I think of you! I always say I will never stop until I have married everyone of! I look forward to meeting all of you at one of our speed dating events.
